T-Band Licensee Council
The Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA) convened the organizational meeting of its T-Band Licensee Council on Thursday, October 25, 2007, during its 2007 Enterprise Wireless conference in San Antonio, Texas. Fifteen licensee representatives from nine of the eleven active markets, where TV channels 14-20 are used extensively by business enterprises, public safety entities and private carriers, were in attendance. Ten other licensees, who were unable to attend the organizational meeting, had earlier expressed their interest in participating as members of the EWA council.
Attending licensees noted that the current rules governing operations within TV channels 14-20 that are contained in Part 90, Subpart L, were adopted decades ago and do not adequately support system investments, business operations, newer digital trunking technologies or licensing processes that are employed in other private wireless radio bands. As such, the council will identify critical rule amendments, consult with equipment vendors and seek appropriate FCC rule changes in the immediate future. Membership within the council will be open to all EWA members who are T-Band licensees. Robert McGowan from FleetTalk Partners was appointed Chair of the Council and, Mark Abrams, Mobile Relay Associates was appointed as Vice Chair.
